Hi, I'm Rachel.

My route into sign painting hasn't exactly been conventional.

I've worked in an NHS laboratory, trained as an Army Reserve officer before an injury ended that path, completed a Divemaster qualification in Indonesia, travelled across Australia while freelancing as a copywriter, and spent the last few years working in marketing and branding.

Every role taught me something valuable, but none of them felt quite right.

Eventually I realised that the work I enjoyed most was the work where I could make something tangible, crafted by hand, that would exist in the real world long after I'd finished it.

That's what led me to traditional sign painting and reverse gold gilding.

Today, Rachel Claire Studio combines traditional craftsmanship with a background in branding and design to create bespoke signs, lettering and gilded pieces for homes and independent businesses. Every commission is carefully considered, thoughtfully designed and painted by hand.

I'm based in Kentish Town, North London, and work with clients across London and beyond.

I believe the best signs are more than just functional. They become part of a place's identity, helping businesses tell their story and making homes feel personal. Whether it's a shop window, a gilded house number or a bespoke commission, my aim is always the same: to create something beautiful, thoughtful and built to last.
